Samuel Beckett 3 — “Les ‘dramaticules’”
If the ‘major plays’—Waiting for Godot, Happy Days and Endgame—are now part of the repertoire of stage directors, Beckett’s late theatre is ignored by non-specialists. So this third volume of our Series seeks to reveal the great poetic wealth of these works belonging to Beckett’s maturity, and which we call—following the author—‘dramaticules’. After a reflection on the specificity of this corpus’ and the questions of genre it raises, this volume examines the presence/absence problematics, before studying the primordial place that these plays reserve for the voice. Two further texts deal respectively with the presence of Dante and the translation of Beckett’s plays into Hebrew.
Llewellyn BROWN (dir.) : Samuel Beckett 3 : "Les ‘dramaticules’", Caen, Lettres modernes Minard, collection « La Revue des Lettres modernes », 2013. 335 pages.
